TRANSITIONS
“Transitions” is the term used for any period of change in life. This document relates to the transition from secondary school to further education, and also as your young person prepares for adult life.
SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SCOTLAND/ FALKIRK COUNCIL ETU
Your young person has access to their careers advisor whilst in school and support can still be offered when they have left.
SDS have an office in Falkirk and can be contacted on (01324) 620311.
Before leaving school, pupils may also be referred to the ETU and work with staff to help them prepare for the world ofwork.

What is Autism
WHAT IS AUTISM
People with a diagnosis of autism usually experience differences in social communication and social interaction, and sensory sensitivities. These differences impact on day to day lives; but everyone with a diagnosis of autism is different, with different strengths.
GIRLS
Autistic women, girls and non-binary people are more likely to mask their autistic traits, and can appear to “fit in” to society. They continue to face significant barriers in accessing diagnosis and support.

GETTING A DIAGNOSIS
Parents may want to pursue a diagnosis if they suspect their child has autism. This is usually done by CAMHS via a referral from school.
