Welcome to St Mungo’s Roman Catholic High School. As a Catholic school our ethos is firmly based on Gospel values. We are committed to the education of the whole person: spiritual, intellectual, social, moral and physical. At the same time, we promote tolerance, understanding and respect for the views of others. We are committed to equality of opportunity and to the promotion of justice and peace.
We are a community of love and hope and we recognise the wide ranging talent, interests and abilities of all our pupils. Our ultimate aim is to develop the full potential of all our young people. Our success stems from the way we value every pupil by providing them with the knowledge, skills and confidence to meet the challenges of our ever changing world. We do this in an atmosphere which is happy, disciplined, purposeful and productive.
Prominence is given to the quality of relationships between staff and pupils as well as academic achievement. Every pupil who attends St Mungo’s will be valued as an individual and given every possible support in their academic, personal, social and spiritual development.
We have a lot to be proud of at St Mungo’s, particularly the excellent facilities we have to offer and the determination and dedication of the staff to ensure that every pupil reaches their full potential. The school achieves excellent academic results and provides a very extensive range of opportunities for involvement in sport, music, leadership, mentoring and many other personal development activities.
From our pupils, we expect the highest standards of personal conduct, commitment to academic excellence and enthusiastic involvement in the wider life of the school. In return, we help each pupil develop his or her talents to the full by working in partnership with parents, providing a stimulating, innovative and demanding approach to learning and teaching, and by presenting challenging opportunities through a wealth of activities beyond the classroom.
We aim to provide our pupils with the skills, values and qualities they will need to take their place in society. We want pupils to leave school fully equipped for the next stage in their life-long education; to be confident and free from prejudice; to be positive and creative in their personal outlook on life and to be at ease with themselves and others. The nature of our school community is second to none in allowing this to happen.
We value everyone. We aim to provide a level of support and challenge and at the same time provide opportunities and choices to all pupils to ensure that they reach their full potential. We have a dedicated team of staff all of whom monitor the progress and welfare of each pupil.
I doubt that any Rector in Scotland leads a more professional, reflective, dedicated and devoted staff, a more united and supportive parent body and a more wonderful group of young people to whose company we warmly welcome the parents and families of our new S1.
